When I arrived at Penn in the late 90s, 60% of our patients carry commercial insurance, 40 government.
30 years later, it's completely flipped, and we're now about 63% government-funded, 37 commercial.
So to your point,
We have to get our costs under control.
We need to figure out new revenue sources because we're just not going to get enough from Medicare and Medicaid to continue the mission that we have, again, of research, education, and taking care of people.
So we're looking at new models, as you mentioned, very close to working out a joint venture with a med tech developer on a global basis.
So that not only are we going to participate in helping invent the technology, but there'll also be a revenue stream back to us, again, on a global basis.
So that would be one.
We set up a health venture fund.
We spun off maybe 12 to 14 companies in Philadelphia.

So I, to your point, I think we need to pull as many levers as we can to bring additional non-traditional academic medical centers.
