But the more you start seeing the same pitchers and catchers, understanding their tendencies, when they like to throw certain pitches, um, is when you can really take off as a base stealer.
Well, first of all, I I think it's kind of a long overdue.
And I obviously Josh um had to spend a little bit of time on the IL and had to come back, but um versatility is one of his greatest strengths.
And not only can he handle left field, he can play center field.
When I was with him in Texas, he was playing some center field.
He was playing some left field.
He's playing some right field.
Um, he plays a tremendous shortstop.
I know we're not gonna get a chance to see him play a ton of shortstop because he's kind of third on the depth chart in in terms of uh short stuff, but he is so valuable to a team and I was just waiting for the Blue Jays to kind of tap into his versatility.
And this is no offense against Miles Straw because I love what he brings.
Um, but Josh Smith is a better offensive player than him.
He's not quite the defender Miles Straw is because Miles Straw is still kind of an elite defender out there.
But Josh Smith is a very good defensive outfielder as well.
And you've got to find ways to get his bat in the lineup.
He is one of those guys too.
And I I was listening to Ben a little bit last night and Caleb.
He's one of those guys when he talks about feeling comfortable and his swings in sync.
He is elite at home play.
And we're talking about a guy who has a silver slugger.
