And so

Like if J J i if it plays out this way where Kyler Murray becomes the starter, J J McCarthy is the backup, and then somehow, some way J J.

McCarthy reemerges as the starter and remains as the starter long term, and that this was the sort of the the bounce that he needed to get his career on track, it would be the first time it's ever happened in in

you know, the current iteration of the NFL, you know, roster structure.

And so uh that is to say it's it would it's pretty unusual.

And so like that's why I say he's fighting for his Vikings career.

So if he if he doesn't win the starting job this summer, as we don't expect him to do, um

He would be the very first to ever come back from that and and become the starter, at least in this era.

And so um that's the inertia that I was talking about.

And that but on the other hand, like people have asked like why didn't the Vikings just if they're gonna sign Kyler Murray, just trade JJ McCarthy or like, you know

Don't go through this whole process.

And then the point is that

They might need him at some point to try to win some games this year and and that was before the acquisition of Carson Wentz, but you know

We've all seen what's happened to this team when they get down to their number two and number three quarterbacks.

So um

They wanted Carson Wentz here as well for for insurance.

But uh I think that is a little bit of why they're going through this competition is to is to try to bring out the the very best in J J, whatever that is, and whatever level that is, so that at the very least they can get to the end of the season and know what that level might be.

Yeah, like like f I always say like there's only a certain amount that we can see with our amateur eyes and then we have to use that information and then ask the questions either in press conferences or behind the scenes to try to figure out exactly what's going on.

But to me from a public perspective, like the big thing for Kyler is just don't make a mess of it.
