I'll never forget the Roberto Luongo story of having to change his glove because of IHF rules on the cuff.
And Pavel Dimitra, rest in peace, with a chance to tie the game in the final seconds.
Luongo makes a lunging glove save.
A fantastic moment.

But then the behind the scenes was, hey...
If the IIHF rules didn't force you to go back to an old generation of glove, which had what they call the two-piece cup.
So as I hold my hand out here, Roberto's was sort of curved down to the heel, the two-piece.
Essentially, he made that save because the IIHF rules forced him to go back to an old piece of equipment that covered...
covered the wrist area differently and he admitted it to me in the mix zone he's like yeah you're right actually i never thought of that but 100 so um and so in goal magazine was born at that point in terms of a more of a mainstream voice in the goalie world
So
year left on the contract.
And I don't think a lot of people realize there was a year left on the contract, but when they shifted his role and rewrote the contract, getting an extra year out of it was a way of sort of taking, I think my read on it would be a way of taking what he was earning and spreading it out in a lesser role.
So, so he's made whole.
Um, and in some ways that's a good thing because now you get you by yourself a year to see, does the, you know, are they interested?
And when I asked RJ whether he believes they need a goaltending director or he believes in having a goaltender director, he didn't answer about the position itself.
He just answered in terms of how he believes in Ian Clark.
So, you know, we'll see where this goes.
