In reality, these are telltale signs that our country's diving headfirst into eco-fascism.
Ecofascism refers to groups and ideologies that offer authoritarian, hierarchical, and racist analyses and solutions to environmental problems.
Now traditionally the far right in the United States leaned more towards straight up climate crisis denial, pretending that nothing was happening and that climate scientists were insane and alarmists.
But as the overwhelming realities of the climate crisis continue to manifest through wildfires, blizzards, hurricanes, and droughts, you're going to start to see a shift, or we're already seeing a shift, of this climate crisis denial turning into a form of climate crisis scapegoating.
It's turning into this idea that certain marginalized, specifically non-white populations, are the primary cause for environmental issues, and that idea is core to the ideology of ecofascism.
And this is a very violent and dangerous ideology that's manifested throughout history in the form of
blood and soil politics with that 1940s German party, and more recently with taglines like save the trees, not refugees, in more contemporary eco-fascist circles.
And while I don't think most right-wing commentators have as murderous of an intent to be characterized specifically as eco-fascist right now, the ideas they're spreading are definitely planting the seeds.
But have you heard of eco-fascism and what are your thoughts on all of this?
Let me know in the comments and follow for more.
Yeah.
So there you go.
