sydney um so around alexandria and um areas like that and you know it was all very very very underground back then you know dance music was was underground you know it was like a new thing that people didn't really know about you know so you'd have to explain to them you know what's techno what's what's a rave you know like you had to explain the whole concept to them you know it was like a very new thing
Um, so I think it was like a very, yeah, it was like a very underground culture.
You had to call a, we had to call like a 0055 number to find out the location on the night because a lot of them were illegal.
So they had to keep it hidden.
Um, so yeah, they all took place in sort of venues like that.
And, you know, you felt like you're a part of something, you know, it was like a real, a movement.
Um, I think just in general, you know, if you look back at the early sort of nineties, even up until the two thousands, I guess it was like, um,
the golden era of subcultures.
At high school, we had you're a raver or you're into hip-hop or you're a skater or you're a goth.
You had all these different identities, which I think to a certain extent isn't as defined these days.
I think culture has become a lot more global and internet-driven, whereas we had to seek it out a lot more.

And I think it's because the information, it was harder to get information about what was happening in music scenes, you know, particularly in other parts of the world, you know, like what was happening in London.
We had to wait for, you know, Mixmag magazines or The Face or DJ Mag, all these magazines to come into Australia to find out, oh, you know, what's the latest tunes that they're reviewing or what's happening over there or what are they wearing or stuff like that.
