You know, unless you're getting the imported versions, which came out sort of more closely aligned with the release dates overseas, you're getting them like months later.
So you're always these couple of steps behind, you know, what was happening overseas.
And, you know, someone would go overseas and they'd go record shopping and you'd be like, oh, man, you know, what music did you get?
And they'd come back with all these new tunes and you'd be like the king for a while because you had all this music that no one else had, you know.
So it was very interesting.
It was a lot more withheld, the information.
It was harder to seek out.
So I think we sort of really valued it all.
We valued all the little morsels of stuff that we got culturally, you know.
So, yeah, we really wore that culture with a lot of pride, I guess, and formed a lot of our identity.

And if you travel overseas or, you know, I see some friends of mine who are overseas and I see what their kids are wearing, what they're into.
And I'm like, man, that's no different to what my kids are into.
Like there's not much differentiation between the two.
And they're like on the other side of the world.
Like how do we have these very identical kind of similar cultures, but they're separated so vastly geographically, whereas that never happened before.

insular in a way which wasn't a bad thing because like you said it developed sort of cultural uniqueness um and it was interesting because it correlated to like early days of touring like you know there was almost this thing of like oh why do we need a dj from sydney to come to melbourne or perth we've got our own djs you know what i mean it was like we're all sort of every city had its own thing going on we didn't it was a bit more like oh you know you're from sydney oh
yeah okay cool you got to sort of prove yourself before you can play at a club over here kind of thing you know it wasn't like this open sort of like oh with this big sort of uh global culture which we have now so things yeah it's a lot different in that respect
