You take everything that can be turned into money.
Because that's the entire point of this crime.
That makes sense, right?
So whoever did this took the time to move from one ATM to the next, chasing 3,500 Rand in withdrawals.
But they left thousands of Rand in jewelry, sitting on her wrist and her fingers.
That doesn't add up.
It just didn't fit.
It's something that you cannot unnotice because it meant that whatever this was, this robbery might have been the costume it was wrapped up to look like because that did not look like the real motive.
And meanwhile, the city was grieving in the streets.
Late that Wednesday evening, hundreds of people, residents, students, they marched in the streets near the police station with candles in their hands demanding justice for Jade and against the violence that made things like this possible in the first place.
The assumption on those streets was the same everyone had.
That a stranger, someone faceless, someone evil had reached out of the darkness that they lived in and taken one of their own.
