What he saw that night is something that
will probably stay with him for the rest of his life.
Because that is what detectives said after they arrived on scene and walked into Brooke's bedroom.
No matter how seasoned or tough you are as a detective, it never shields you from the trauma that you experience when you have to witness something as absolutely horrific as what they saw that night.
Just like many nights before,
It wasn't unusual for Braun to head over to Brooke's house before the weekend came to an end.
He came by a couple times earlier that day, once around 4.30 p.m.

That second time, he ran into Brooke's classmate Jill, who told him that she tried to drop off some schoolwork to Brooke around 10.30 in the morning, but Brooke never came to the door.

And he expected Brooke to greet him at the door after he knocked.
But again, he did not get an answer.
However, he thought he could hear something inside.
So he let himself in with his key.
As soon as he walked in, something didn't feel right.
Bron calls out to his sister, but she doesn't answer.
So he walked further into the house, and that's when he heard something.
It was something distinctive.
