Welcome to Card Behind the Mic with Yannick Leonard and today we have a special guest, close friend of mine, someone who I know from the time I arrived in Anguilla and ever since then played so many cricket together for Anguilla, for Leeward Islands and now he's in England playing some club cricket and I'd like to welcome you to Monson Hodge.
Yes, welcome.
So just want to start it off today, Mons.
Just want to remember meeting you in Anguilla 2006 when I first got there.
And I think that was the year you, Calbert, Chesney was part of the Leeward Islands.
On the 19th team, you guys went to Guyana.
And then when you came back to Anguilla, you guys saw me and we met from ever since.
And we've just been playing cricket by Anguilla, representing Anguilla.
in all sorts of cricket, in three-day cricket, 50-over cricket, T20 cricket, played in the Stanford, where I saw one of the best innings ever from you as well.
Yeah, so just want to, anything you want to tell the people about yourself and your cricketing career?
Yeah, as you were saying, like you come through all the, just hearing a train passing now, but yeah, you say that you play all level of the cricket on the 15, on the 19th, Anguilla and Leewards.
And I don't know if you realize for the past couple of years, like Anguilla hasn't had on the 15, on the 19, on the 17 team playing in the Leeward Islands.
Well, they haven't had a Leeward Islands tournament.
And like just seeing stuff like that really hurts my heart and not knowing that we could produce players to represent Anguilla at this age group.
And I think that's something that going forward, we as past players and stuff, we need to try to put our effort into it.
If the association don't want to put in the work, we need to pick it up on ourself and try to help the youngsters.
