Uh good afternoon, Mayor Watson and distinguished council members.
We are
We are grateful to city staff for their diligent review and recommendation and to the planning commission for their strong decisive nine in favor, zero opposed with two abstaining vote approving this zoning change.
Mm.
We understand that Councilmember Fuentes, in response to purported safety concerns by the neighborhood plan contact team, has proposed an amendment to make multifamily residential a conditional use on this property.
While we deeply respect the council members' dedication to her district, we must respectfully urge council to reject this specific language.
Regarding safety concerns, the neighborhood plan contact team has admitted at our June fifth
Zoom meeting that our proposal is the best option they've seen and that they would love for this plan to be implemented because it would make this whole area a lot safer.
And I've got the Zoom video here, if you don't believe me, I could show it to you.
But in spite of our having addressed their safety concerns to their obvious satisfaction, the neighborhood plan contact team remains opposed to the zoning change.
They told us that our Zoom exc excuse me, they told us at our June eighth meeting that they don't care about safety or any other issues.
