he had the headlines he made some sparks and scored some goals here when he before he was even eligible to play in the league and then last year at 16 you know things were probably not the year that he wanted and you know i always try to caution players and families that being a 16 year old in the western hockey league isn't an easy thing to do it's it's hard and you know you can you can try to set goals and you can try to have high expectations but a lot of times i've seen those expectations not be reached and players can get discouraged and i think that was a little bit of joe's 16 year old season but
you know credit to him he had a great summer um started the year really well this year and you know over the last 15 games he just seemed to get in a little bit of a slump and you know joe decided that he wanted to change the scenery and um once we had that conversation you know my my mindset has to think it has to flip to trying to do what's best for our team this year with obviously us trying to go on a run and um we were trying to get the best player possible into our lineup and uh
And we acquired Aaron Obafafo from Vancouver.
And Aaron's a former first-round pick to our league and a guy that plays with a ton of energy, a lot of skill.
He's one of the faster players in the league.
And, you know, he's a guy that we think can come in here and provide that energy on a game-to-game basis and contribute up our lineup.
Yeah, Carter Sutherland is a veteran of the league.
I mean, over 230 games played in the regular season.
And, you know, the thing that's really attractive to us is the 41 playoff games and a guy that's, you know, gone on two deep runs with Portland.
You know, he just knows how to play in those big moments and the big games.
And he's a real big guy who's drafted to Philly and didn't end up signing.
But we have high expectations for him to be a guy that can
contribute from the from the blue line those offensive minutes and also a guy that you know plays with a ton of jam and bite in front of the net and the d zone can be hard to play against so um you know he's one of those guys that can play in all situations play big minutes and big games and we're super excited to have him in our lineup did i miss anything that's pretty much the big stuff right
Yeah, that's the big stuff.
Obviously, we made the two moves right after the Christmas break and bringing in Austin Zemlack, who left ASU, and Jackson Fooder from Red Deer.
So another two guys that, again, they're hard-nosed players.
They play really hard.
They can contribute up the lineup, create offense as well.
But I think that's the theme here of the players we've acquired and brought in are certainly guys that, you know, they play in those tough games.
They get to the inside.
