The lean assessment and collection process includes both weed and brush abatement programs.
The programs are in place to work with property owners to ensure the removal of brush, dry weeds, and dead vegetation before the start of the fire season.
Property owners must clear their properties by the notice deadlines.
Tonight's hearing requests council's consideration of a resolution confirming assessments on properties for unpaid abatement services and allows owners an opportunity to contest the fees.
If approved, the total charges are included on the property owner tax statements.
Owners may request council to remove their property from the assessment list.
Charges include any work performed by a county contractor as well as a county administrative fees.
So here is the list of the county fees for the 2026 season.
Every property in the program receives an initial inspection to determine if the property has been properly abated.
That inspection fee is $296.
A processing fee of $953 is charged for non-compliant parcels that fail the inspection and must be reinspected.
And an administrative fee of $1,383 is charged if weed and brush removal is completed by the county's designated contractor.
This fee is in addition to the cost to remove the weeds and brush.
