Good evening, mayor and council members.
I am here today to present the proposed amendments to the city's naming, donation and sponsorship policies.
As our city manager mentioned, as part of the TBD list, council requested review of the process for placing any logo, name or brand on the city property.
As part of that review, staff evaluated the existing policies and is recommending amendments to improve clarity, consistency and coordination between them.
Starting with the naming policy, this was first established in 2017 with the purpose to govern all forms of permanent naming of city-owned facilities.
We are renaming this policy and clarifying that it applies to logos and branding as well as added cross-references to the donation and sponsorship policies.
Donation policy was also established in 2017.
It governs the acceptance of donations with no expectation of benefits in return.
The proposed changes clarify that donations do not automatically provide naming, branding, logo placement, or sponsorship rights, and that recognition requests outside of the scope of the policy would be reviewed under the naming, logo, and branding policy.
The sponsorship policy was established in 2018 and its purpose is to govern arrangements where support is provided in exchange for recognition or other benefits.
The amendments clarify that sponsorship recognition is generally tied to the duration of a specific event, program, or activity.
Longer term recognition would be reviewed under the naming logo and branding policy.
I would also add that we did attach the commemorative bench policy as part of the staff report for reference.
So tonight our recommended action is to accept the amendments presented this evening and we are here for questions.

I found that I really appreciate the donations policy updates and the sponsorship policy updates.
However, I got stuck on the naming logos and branding for city facilities policy.
