If that's mainly in stocks, let's call it 80% stocks and 20% whatever else, just as a sort of juxtaposed to what we said on the retirement side.
You can expect that 500 grand, all things being equal.
Obviously, it's being saved at different points every month.
It's churning in.
But you can expect that to be a million, a million and a half, potentially more over a 40-year cycle.
So you don't want that situation where it's not
that you want to give yourself as much chance as possible to do that and bear all the risks.
Because if you're 30, you can try and make adjustments to the portfolio if it's not on track when you're in your 50s.
But give yourself as much of a fighting chance to, you know,
make what we call outsized returns, returns above term deposits, you know, whilst, whilst you can.
And actually there's a real imperative there.
I mean, I'm sure many of your viewers know about this, but don't think about a lot.
But I think about it all the time because it's part of my job to consider it is that
Things, especially for millennials, things that were there for our parents in terms of defined benefit schemes, where if you work for most companies, especially government organizations, you didn't really need to think about retirement too much because they had you covered.
Come hell or high water, as long as that company didn't go broke, you were going to get a certain amount of money, which was dictated by your end salary, to put it very basically.
And if you had any other pension on the side, it was a top up.
It was like a luxury that you could buy a holiday home with or whatever you wanted.
Now, you have to consider to yourself, if you're in a low interest rate environment where we are now, the math is simple.
You need a million dollars approximately to earn $25,000 a year in perpetuity, right?
