But the flip side of that, and I just want to go back to your point about Times Square, about the Giuliani moment, the flip side of that is if you had means in this country, if you were wealthy, the tax burden just shifted dramatically for you in a

really wonderful way that we've also been doubling down on.

So when Trump is elected, our eyeballs are focused on Denmark or we're focused on Minneapolis.

But meanwhile, the economic story of what's going on is just stunning.

We have concentrated wealth at the top in a way that few have really paid attention to.

Well, you know, it's the new Gilded Age and on the racial front and on the kind of racial violence front, it's the new Jim Crow.

And so we we are, I think, in a changing moment.

But this is where the misinformation media and that story told that really locates in the 80s is so important because unlike other moments, we

you know, we as a citizenry, we're just stabilized.

What is the truth?

What is, you know, up is down, down is up.

And so I kind of wanted to really elevate that as important to the story because, yeah, we're in a terrible crisis right now and it could go in any direction.

Absolutely.

And one of the sort of startling things is the way in which this at that time was absolutely about race, but it was racially coded in the way that today is not.

So it's not so much that, as you say, that the kind of group think is so different.

It is that it has now been kind of unveiled in a different way.

And so in the 80s, people were not making a sort of...

always saying race has nothing to do with this, race has nothing to do with this, even while, you know, Reagan is talking about the welfare queen and this, and he's racializing all of it.

One of the things that happens is the Goetz case kind of allows for just peeling back.

We don't need to pretend anymore.
