But it also won't stain your furniture, as some parents noted.

Yeah.

I mean, for products where they're using natural colors, one of the challenges is that you often need to use a lot more of it to get as vibrant, which is why some of the products being made with natural food dyes are more expensive.

I think what's interesting about the colorless products is that they are cheaper in that respect.

You're just taking that variable out entirely.

It is expensive to reformulate, so that's the cost that companies will have to undergo.

But in a lot of instances, when they're not

putting in the color at all.

They're trying to keep the same price as artificial colors, which are cheap and easy to use.

That's right.

Red number three was banned at the end of the Biden administration.

Under President Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., they have leaned heavily on companies to voluntarily remove artificial colors, but they are not banned.

There's a couple that really aren't used anymore, that are outdated, that they're taking off the books.

But for the most part, these are voluntary efforts, and that means that companies get to choose their own timeline and make their own pledges.

For example, some companies are taking out all artificial companies from all of their products,

Some candy makers are launching a separate line so that there will be lines of M&Ms and Skittles that are made with natural colors, but also ones made with artificial colors that will stay as bright as people associate those candies to be.

What was interesting is that in a lot of cases, and it was true with these popsicles, the package was green.

So they could still tell from the outside, oh, that's the lime popsicle because there was a green otter on the package.

So there was still that kind of mental connection with the color.
