In my mind, if somebody did something wrong, they're supposed to be held accountable.

But we have protections in place such as immunity to stop people from being held accountable for what they do.

Exactly.

So now when the attorneys got involved, they asked for all the evidence in my case.

And I'm one of the fortunate ones.

They had all of my evidence intact, one of which was a picture of the doorway of his bedroom.

And so if something burns, it leaves a mark on the floor.

You can see that it was protected by something.

There was no protected area in the doorway.

You could see clear through in there.

There was nothing ever sitting there.

So when he was questioned about it afterwards, he said, well, it was it was smoky and I got confused.

Absolutely.

I wanted to become a lawyer.

I thought that's where I can put all this anger, all this drive, and I can protect other people.

I had no clue that I was going to be so uncomfortable and have panic attacks going into a courtroom again.

It's very easy to tell yourself that you're over trauma or that you've healed yourself.

But when you go through something that's so horrific, that sticks with you.

And the first time I walked into a courtroom after that, and I was assisting one of the attorneys that took my case, I had to leave.

I couldn't breathe.
