This cannot be a referendum just about the government, because as soon as it becomes a referendum about the government, people stop doing referendums.
Like, why would you have a vote midterm referendum?
You know, if this becomes something about the government.
So you need this to be be a yes, but sort of a yes outside of party politics, if you can, because there are different.
It is tough, but there are yes and no's in all parties.
I mean, the flares are different, but this is an opportunity for people to have an opinion on this, especially because it's not like a yes, I'm joining.
It's a yes, I'm preserving the option.
Yes, I want to see what this might look like.
The strategy is be honest with people.
Don't tell them that this is an either-or option, black and white, that if we join the EU, everything will be fixed.
Every issue we have will be fixed.
At the same time, those that are on the no side that they said, if we go down this route, everything will be horrible.
People aren't stupid.
People might be, I don't know, sucked into social media at times, but the overwhelming majority of people
They understand how the world works.
They know it's complicated.
Be honest with them.
Be calm.
Be reassuring.
Don't talk over people's heads.
