And the same thing can be said about nation after nation in Western Europe.

victories that really changed people's lives were won only on the basis of a militant fight back.
And that's also true of the New Deal.
The New Deal was not won because of somebody making deals with FDR or whatever, or FDR making deals with the capitalists.
The New Deal was won because of the 1934 Minneapolis general strike and the auto sit-down worker strike and an actual revolutionary mood in US society, which really put the scare
on the capitalist class and they both were forced to concede.
And so it's our job to rest those concessions and not help in rehabilitating the political reputations of the sellout politicians.
Well, I don't actually believe that the DSA leadership, or at least the part of the DSA leadership that we're talking about, actually agrees that capitalism needs to be overthrown.
That is why they go around saying things like, we want to govern capitalism.
I don't want to govern the capitalist system.
I want to overthrow the capitalist system.
That's not their view.
If that was their view, and they can speak for themselves, but I don't think so.
But if that is their view, then they're going about it in exactly the wrong way.
Because
A big part of the task of revolutionaries is to actually expose the role that is played by the representatives of the capitalist system.
Because, you know, a lot of times people are clear about, well, is Jeff Bezos on your side or not?
Of course he's not on your side.
