So last week, I interviewed Representative Adam Smith, Democrat ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee. And so this week, we thought it'd be a good idea to interview one of his primary opponents, and she joins us now. Kshama Sawant is an independent socialist running in the jungle primary against Representative Adam Smith. Smith, welcome to the show.
Thank you so much for having me.
Yeah, of course. And so in just a second, I'd love for you to give people a little bit of your background, what you're able to accomplish on the Seattle City Council. But first, I wanted to give you a chance to react to some of that interview with Representative Adam Smith. Let's go ahead and take a look. This is when I was asking him if he had changed any of his views with regard to Israel specifically because he's taken some interesting votes recently. Jake Sullivan, who just came out and said that he regrets. the Biden policy of the bear hug. He thinks they should have done more to restrain Israel. And I'm wondering if you have any regrets, because now you're voting in a somewhat different way, both with the NDAA shift in position, with the Massey Amendment saying, hey, we should blockade.
I want to send a message to Netanyahu. At the peak of the Gaza onslaught, you had a complete siege. You had entire neighborhoods that were leveled. They created the largest population of child amputees.
