Those are people that this administration have dubbed patriots, have given blanket pardons to, one of which who received that pardon was just found to be guilty of child pedophilia.
The idea that justice is served equally and dispensed equally is completely dead under this administration.
And we just watched the other day, the highest ranking law enforcement official in this country
take an oath, sit before Congress, and spend hours just lying and misleading and gaslighting and trying to convince the American people that what we see with our own eyes, what we read with our own eyes, what images we see on our screens isn't actually real.
Anybody who watches the full video of Don covering this event
can very clearly see he identifies himself as a journalist.
He's there as a journalist and he's interacting with people as a journalist.
He is not in any way representing a threat to anyone's constitutional rights.
He's not preventing people from practicing their faith, but it's very clear that this administration
wants to use don as an example to try to chilling to send that chilling message to every journalist who would dare question them who who dares to tell truth to power that this could happen to you because if we can do this to don lemon we can easily do it to you and i think that justin's absolutely right by the way it just backfires you're just making him
bigger and more relevant and more important and meaningful.
And I don't care if you're left or right, Republican or Democrat, whether you read Breitbart every day or the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times, Don Lemon right now is all of us in that space.
Because if the First Amendment isn't protected, absolutely in this case, and the freedom of the press is right, isn't protected, then we will quickly backslide into something very dangerous, very anti-American.
And it is textbook authoritarianism to try to hold the truth power, the people who dare to tell the truth, to try to scare them into being silent.
And thankfully, we live in a time now where even the technology exists and the platforms exist, where even if we aren't backed by a big corporate conglomerate like WarnerMedia or Nexstar or Murdoch Enterprises, there are avenues and channels that we can still get on, tell the truth, reach the people where they actually are,
which is watching live streams, watching on their phone, following this stuff in real time, and that those vehicles exist for people like Don and the rest of us to tell the truth every day.
Yeah, it's funny.
I spent many years working in Congress at the House Oversight Committee, having a front row seat to see exactly how the levers of power and how government exercises them, both from the legislative side, but also executive overreach and what to do to rein that in.
Now more than ever, we need to empower those who are aligned with us in this fight for fairness and equality and justice.
And it shouldn't be a partisan fight.
