And it wasn't until I'd say about 10 years later that I realized that the reason why I had that reaction was because I'd know nothing about wheelchair users.

I'd know nothing about what life might look like or feel like or be like if I wasn't able to walk.

And, you know, I'm not able to use my hands.

I can move my arms.

But it was always this emphasis on walking, on standing, on running, on skiing, on swimming.

I'm not sure that I shared that with my parents.

But I think it was one of those things that I ended up living.

It was just very much about being in the moment and

And being with my changing body and understanding what that meant, it was really like being in the Matrix and not being asked if you want to take the red pill or the blue pill, but it being shoved down your damn throat.

So about 10 days after I was in intensive care, I went to a physical rehabilitation center.

I was on the, I don't know why they called it adult, young adult ward of this rehabilitation center.

Like the teen floor.

Yes.

And I would say it was kind of like a mixed boarding school with mobility equipment.
