It is exactly right.

You know, I think a lot of people will hear retire early and go, oh, I'm never going to retire early.

So they decide it's not for them, which is why I really like the idea of separating the concept of financial independence from whatever you do once you become financially independent.

whether that is retire early or whether you work harder or run a startup or volunteer or look after your family, whatever you do, separating the concept of the financial independence from what you do with your time afterwards, I think helps more people connect to the idea and make it feel a bit more achievable.

I can't imagine stopping, like doing nothing, you know, but then a lot of people do enjoy it.

It's that point of them having a choice, right?

If they get a choice about how they want to spend their time, then you've really got where you want to go.

And if your money helps you get there, then gee, that's wonderful.

It's a really important point about the deciding whether it works for you, because there is no right or wrong here, right?

So there will be people who just go, look, that's not for me.

And that's fine.

My theory with this is you've got to decide whether you're the sort of person who's motivated by long-term goals or happy to just plod along without a long-term goal to work towards.

So there's a lot of people I imagine who are listening to this podcast who are like, no, I want a goal.

I know how much my money needs to be.

I know what my retirement fund size needs to be.

And I talk about retirement fund in the outside of superannuation sense there.

There'll be people who are like that, who go, yeah, I've got a goal.

This is what I'm shooting for.
