Whereas 9-1-1 stands as a universally acknowledged lifeline in times of crisis, emphasizing the critical need to educate the public on proper 9-1-1 usage.

Whereas each day unfolds with unwavering commitment

from devoted public safety telecommunicators tirelessly responding to emergency calls within Broward County.

We take a moment to pay tribute and remember public safety telecommunicator Thomas W. Gallagher, Jr., a Broward County native who dedicated his career to the noble cause of public safety, his outstanding leadership and compassionate service as an emergency dispatcher progressing to the esteemed rank of communications chief and public information officer.

Whereas the sudden and unexpected passing of Mr. Gallagher in 2012, after an illustrious 28-year career in public service, prompts us to celebrate his memory and service through the annual Tom Gallagher Memorial Public Safety Award.

Whereas the 13th Annual Tom Gallagher Memorial Public Safety Award rightfully honors Sandra Bailey, Natasha Garcia, and Shanice Gordon for their exceptional leadership and distinguished service reflecting the spirit of dedication embodied by Mr. Gallagher

in their noteworthy contributions to the community.
