But you can't hang out on the outside just looking.

You've got to get yourself to the inside, find that soft area, and then be able to use your release.

Because if he gets the puck...

on an offside or a strong side one-timer, somewhere between the dots and below the tops of the circle, like in that house, he's scoring more times than not, but he's got to find a way in there.

And he hasn't done that yet.

So that to me is why this year, again, I don't care if he gets 15 goals or three, it's about getting himself in and getting the chances because then I can at least see that with his getting healthier and stronger, that he'll be able to do it later.

And 20% of that particular skill set goes a long damn way in hockey.

And again, this is why I talk about his release so much.

I've seen enough at the American League level of him coming over the blue line and using the D as a screen and scoring from distance.

You're not going to be able to do that all the time on NHL goalies, but there's no reason that those shots don't happen.

Right.

And you have your guy driving and you're giving that a chance because...

if you catch it right, you do have like, he is good enough to score from distance, but he's at least getting things to the net.

It opens up his line mates knowing that, okay, if he's got it in this type of situation, I don't have to look to try and get open for a pass.

I need to get to the net.

And you figure out really quickly...

Oh, as we're going on the clock.

Canucks are on the clock.

This is where your amateur scouts are in a massive argument leading up to the draft and now sitting here waiting for it.
