with a vested interest in trying to find new customers but i would maybe quibble a little bit with this is like the new version of guerrilla marketing or this is a new kind of advertising i think this is a category change this is a new and different thing guerrilla marketing is like hanging up posters on the way to a music venue or something this is almost more like hiring actors to follow you around and sort of talk loud enough to be overheard to try to do product placement or something i'm

Exactly.

Yeah.

You know, I'm sort of getting up there.

I used to be younger and cooler.

And so I thought, is this just me getting older and these new pop artists that are sort of coming out of nowhere?

Seemingly it's just because I'm 44 now and not as hip as I once was.

And I started looking into it.

It turns out, no, I'm still as cool as I ever was.

There is actually something there's actually something going on here.

And so.

Basically, it's been happening for a few years now, but this is a brand new, totally creepy, different kind of thing than what we've had before with other different nefarious or, you know, sort of line blurring kinds of marketing.

This is new and creepy.

Clipping is when you pay a whole bunch of anonymous people around the world to chop up clips of like a song or a movie trailer or a podcast or whatever, and you basically flood strangers' feeds with it, hoping that they'll engage with it, and then it will sort of push that content even further.

It's meant to look like the real output of actual real fans, but it's not.

It's stuff that was paid to be there by marketers.

Pretty much, yes.

Everybody I've talked to said, you will not believe how cheap this is.

This is basically a tenth of the cost of any other type of advertising on a per view basis.
