And so a really big campaign, even something like Justin Bieber at Coachella, it'll cost $5,000 and then it'll get incredible results.

A normal ad on TikTok will cost you $10 per thousand views.

And this is $1 per thousand views typically.

So his Coachella set, he was the headliner of Coachella this year in April, and as far as I can tell, and I should preface it and say, I don't know that it was Justin Bieber himself who actually paid for these campaigns.

It's sort of blurry.

It may have been his publisher, it may have been his record label, but I did reach out to all these people and none of them would reply to me, which is sort of its own story.

And so, yeah, so he performs at Coachella over two weekends, and

Every social media platform you can name is just totally flooded with clips from these two sets.

And once I went looking, I went into these Discord servers and I found these clipping agencies that had set up campaigns where they're paying normal teenagers from all over the world, they're paying them a dollar per thousand views for this.

And so I did kind of wonder after Coachella, it's like, where are all these videos coming from?

In my feeds, I'm not a, I guess I am not a Justin Bieber fan, but I'm not such a fan that it should just be completely taking over my every feed.

So I was actually able to basically trace that back to a couple of Discord servers.

And it's like, okay, this is where it came from, apparently.

Yeah, that's kind of the scariest thing to me a little bit.

It's just that if even Justin Bieber has to do this, it sort of suggests that so many people are doing this, that the Internet is just now this wasteland of paid for stealth marketing.

And you sort of have to overcome that even if you're a real artist with real fans, someone like Justin Bieber.

And so, you know, what hope does some normal person sort of peddling their own podcast or magazine article have when even Justin Bieber has to pay to make his clips go viral?

But yes, a lot of interesting dynamics here in the reporting process because some of the agencies were really excited to talk to me.
