But I really it's almost not possible.
And also, I mean, just we've been through enough of these cycles where in the social media high traffic era of the, you know, the 2010s.
I actually thought that 30 million people, 40 million people were visiting the website that I edited a month.
And it turns out that was probably not the case.
So we had this idea that we were speaking to these massive, bigger audiences than anybody had ever had before.
And that was just some weird quirk with the way that the platforms counted their views.
And also back in those days, it was easier to get a second opinion.
Like today, so many real journalistic outlets are hidden behind paywalls.
So it's like people obviously can't subscribe to all of these.
And so they don't.
And people get so much of information directly from just these social media platforms.
And that's it.
They probably never even bother to click on the link.
They may see the link and they may see what somebody has quote tweeted about, you know, what is contained therein within that link, but they never bother to check it out.
And so it's just trivially easy to sort of fake these, you know, enthusiasms or these fights or talking points or whatever.
You see that and then there's...
fewer and fewer places to, again, like, go get this checked out or for somebody to debunk it.
And even if somebody does debunk it, in a lot of cases, that'll be hidden away behind a paywall where you have to pay $6 a month.
And they just, you know, will never find out that this has been completely proven false.
So sometimes I wonder if this entire thing is just a sigh up on journalists.
