Okay, so Midsummer Nights is a...

Very loose spin on A Midsummer Night's Dream.

It follows an actress named Miranda who has sort of bombed out her whole life, her career, her relationship.

And the only opportunity that really exists for her is a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in her hometown, directed by her parents and starring...

her ex-boyfriend.

And it sort of follows her journey through failure and falling back in love with her craft as an actor, her hometown, her family, and a few scoundrels and love interests along the way.

Meddling fairies.

It's lots of fun.

So I studied creative writing at York University in Toronto, and I also was a full-time teacher for many years, and I sort of was always juggling the teaching and the writing.

And around 2019, 2020, I was working on a memoir.

I had a hip replacement at 32, and it kind of derailed my whole life.

And I wrote a very intense, emotional memoir.

memoir about it.

And I pitched Carly and one other agent at a conference.

Now, this was summer 2020, a highlight for all of us, the peak COVID.

And I don't know if you know this, but I tried to cancel our meeting.

The book wasn't done.
