Yeah, so why do you think Shakespeare is still so relevant?

I think the classic writers kind of nailed down every nuance of humanity hundreds of years ago, and we're just riffing off of it.

I think humans, you know, now we have

All phones and social media, but there's always new iterations of it, but there's always been the same core things.

I think Shakespeare, I've thought about this a lot when I was writing the book, Shakespeare plays had to be, they needed to be literary and highbrow enough.

It had to be entertaining and nuanced enough to be appealing to the nobility.

But it also had to have, like,

you know, some dirty jokes and some like... Accessibility.

Yeah, for the peasants who were, you know, standing like right up against the stage.

And it had to sort of speak to everybody.

And that really was something I thought about a lot.

And it's something in Midsommar's

There's that hierarchy within the theater, within the structure of a play.

But I was also like, this is sort of fun because I am making something that is hopefully appealing to a lot of people, that is really satisfying to lovers of contemporary romance, but that is also going to make...

I mean, my literary father, who is also a professor of creative writing, is going to make him laugh, which it did.
