But like I said in the previous episode that we did, there was this whole cottage industry, particularly like in the seventies, of a lot of black artists who would cover the Beatles.
And one of my favorite covers of a Beatles song is by Marcia Griffiths.
She's the queen of reggae.
And she actually released her cover of Don't Let Me Down as a single the same year
That the Beatles put out don't let me down as a B side.
I think the thing that works so well with this cover is that it simultaneously smooths out and roughs up the edges.
Because I think that was the problem I had with the original.
It was just so harsh, at least to my ears.
Yeah.
And what Marsha Griffiths does is she sees the sweetness in this song because it is it's a sweet love song.
