Right.

Then you then you've got the creation of uh spray tans.

Spray tans come in in the nineties, but really that the the nineties and the noughties going right through to the twenty tens.

That's when you have this real peak in in sun in not even sun, sorry, in fake tanning.

Johnson and Johnson back in the day.

Um I would not leave the house.

And there might have been y you know, you you get your re you know, you're kind of religiously tanning on a Thursday evening that will set you up for the whole weekend, you know?

And wouldn't you wouldn't go out without it.

I yeah, I think what's happening now is we might be seeing a shift towards embracing

complexions embracing paleness and you know especially when it comes to um when it comes to certain complexions and obviously of course there's what what happens is and I think people are looking at when they're looking at tan I mean when you're leaving even when you're looking at the 1940s and 50s and you're looking at the at beauty products then there were shade ranges developed for other complexions as well um the likes of companies like Le Jacques alongside Elizabeth

I don't know and Alina Rubin scene.

But what happens is when tan develops the last twenty years, when you're looking at fake tan.

What they're trying to do is perfect the product to make uh to make it um perfect for for skin tones.

But red pigments are used the the smell that you mentioned earlier on that comes from the main ingredient of fake tan, which is dihox dihydroxyacetone.

And pigments that are mixed with that, that's what causes the more orangey look of a fake tan.

If anyone knows this, any of your listeners, or maybe I don't know if you've come across this yourself, Brendan, but sometimes the fake tan can go off because it's a sugar.

THA is a sugar.

And so sometimes if it's mixed with a blue or yellow pigment, it goes green.

That's how you know your fake tan's gone off.
