like a teleport button into the past and it will sort of transport you back to places you don't necessarily want to visit and that you just have to manage and deal with.
But I've also kind of tried to focus on finding ways to, I think, feel some positivity about the good qualities that he did have and some kind of gratitude for what he did.

I think I credit him with filling me with questions I could not find answers to very early in my life, which has turned out to be, you know, that's the kind of heavy thing as a kid to have.
But it's also a gift.
It's a it's a tremendous gift.
skill and also watching him sort of make a series of choices throughout his own life, really sadly, because he had wonderful qualities and so much potential to be different until he made so many choices in succession that that potential went away.
It led me to
have a real suspicion of my own comfort because I watched him choose his comfort in every situation.
You know, I don't want to talk about that.
That makes me uncomfortable.
I don't want to deal with that.
That makes me uncomfortable.
I'm going to have a drink instead of thinking about that.
That makes me uncomfortable.
I don't want to think about why it is that sitting in a room, for example, with my family is unbearable to me.
Instead, I'm going to try and numb that away.
And so I, maybe too much in the opposite direction, rejected those instincts and sort of sought out discomfort and questions.
And he did that for me.
