They're incredible because this can be so set in ideas.
But then when you actually like start to interrogate the ideas, you start to see all of the influence that are around them.
And when we were talking about, it was like an activity where we were like unpacking, what do you bring to a relationship?
What do you want a partner to bring to a relationship?
And it was very much a space of aesthetics.
I want them to be hot.
And I was like, cool, what does that mean?
Who gets to decide that your partner's hot?
And the consensus was my friends.
Right.
And so then I was like, okay, but like, so what about you finding them hot?
And that was not at all as important as their friends finding their partner hot.
Because again, it wasn't actually about necessarily their attraction or...
who they wanted to be with, it was the idea of the social standing.
I'm with someone that everyone else thinks is hot.
And I feel this idea of the slim athletic, this, you know, we live in such a fat phobic space that again, if I want everyone around me to think that I'm in a great relationship, I'm really set up.
then actually I might be thinking about what everyone else thinks of my partner more than I'm thinking about what I think of my partner.
I think a lot of time it's set up as like conscious and unconscious or, you know, this idea of when you're saying a type, you're creating like a shopping list in a lot of ways.
And that's really like I'm picking attributes.
