I had no teachers saying you should go to university or you shouldn't go to university.
I remember one day I had a day left to apply and I just randomly picked six six universities to apply for and got offers of all of them, never visited any of them and just picked one.
You know, that is the kind of uh that is the kind of methodology I had.
No idea how much it was going to cost me, no idea what was uh open to me.
All I knew very firmly, uh, even when I was at school and not sixth one, was that I wanted to be a professional writer and wanted to be a journalist and just like clung on to that.
And that's the other thing.
We didn't re it was quite hard to research things.
You know, okay, we had the internet, but it wasn't quite the beast of what it is now, and you can find answers to everything.
Very instantly.
I had no idea how to become a journalist.
No one told me what I needed to do or what what you know.
So that's the other thing.
I again I'll go back to what I said at the start is putting an arm around your younger relatives and kind of helping steer them, if you can, into what it is that they have an interest in and what they're good at.
And as as I said earlier as well, not everyone's academic.
Not everyone could basically go and do anything that they want to do.
It's all about trying to discover what your skill sets are and where you're going to kind of thrive and do well.
And I think a lot of that comes from a steer from older people, workers that have been there, done it, um, and you know, can help out.
Say apprenticeships, let's get on to the apprenticeship side of things.
They have become a lot more popular.
They can be quite difficult to get into popular ones because it's almost seen, I think, as a bit of a shortcut now of going work and
