Number two, I hear you about the sunk cost of some of these designs.
The general rule around sunk cost is you don't let that drive your decision making.
You need to make a good decision based upon where we are here and now.
So I don't love sunk costs, but I'm not going to be bound by them in trying to make the best decision.
For example, I think we expected greater sales tax receipts year over year.
At least when I first came on this board, we were increasing our sales tax revenue year over year in a much more substantial way than we are now.
And I think that I'm in a belt tightening mode, given the fact that we have got to live within more limited means.
You know, it seems like if we're in rental space, it is net cheaper over the long haul because these scenarios are renting for, I think, 15 years.
And it seems like after 15, 20 years, we think our buildings are somewhat obsolete anyway.
Like it may just net be cheaper to lease rather than new construction.
That's certainly true sometimes when you buy a new home, even if you're upfitting some.
Um, you know, I, I think, and, and, and we might hear from experts about this in the future, but of our 48 cent tax rate, you know, something like 11 cents is related to capital and debt service, you know, shaving off half a billion dollars.
will have an impact on, if not our tax rate, our ability to deal with what we did in this last budget cycle with moving money from the debt service to the operating, someone else can explain it better, but I'm just saying that,
I'm thinking about what the community talks to me about what they're interested in.
I'm certainly cognizant that community members who are served by these services don't have time to call up their County commissioner.
And I want to be sure we do equity and how we think about meeting the needs of everybody.
But these are just cat, uh, strata stratospherically expensive assets.
And if we can make the services available reasonably for half a billion less,
I am interested, and I don't know, Mr. Manager, you may not really want to give an opinion about how well you can deliver services under option one, but if you felt comfortable doing that, I would certainly be interested in hearing how you would characterize that.
