They're being paid by the franchisee, but basically helping the franchisee.
And so, um, it matters what they're from the perspective of a franchisee, they're looking at them and they're thinking, Oh, it's a consultant.
I mean, I think they look at them a little differently.
They know what a broker is.
So I think that the terminology really matters when you're talking about a franchisee and what's their perception of what this person is doing.
Um
So that's that's a caution.
It does and the other thing this morning, um, I was reading uh a few other articles that have been re written more recently than the last article that I wrote on uh franchise brokers.
And they're even coming up with more terms.
Um and I can't remember.
I read one of them was about
Um a franchise services or a franchise
sales services network.
So they're coming up with even more terms to throw into the mix, which I think makes it very confusing, um, for the franchisee, the franchiseur, and even the broker.
And that's why when I said about the agreement between the franchiseur and the broker, I think the roles and the duties just absolutely are critical in in terms of defining the relationship and everybody's expectations.
Um I would have brokers who actually broker the the
who are actually acting like brokers, I would have them called brokers.
And I I would have, you know, the other folks called, you know, they're if they're just referring the names over, I mean, lead referrals.
I mean they're just referring a name over.
Um I I don't know that the franchise consultant name really fits into this because I think of a franchise consultant as
