As I wrote this morning, essentially what you're asking me to believe when you say that, you're asking me to believe that Gunnar Henderson, who is ostensibly not an idiot and is an all-star level shortstop, he knows how to play baseball.

saw an inning-ending double play in front of him and thought, you know what I really wish would happen instead?

I wish Ernie Clement would just get out of my way so I could just get one and we could keep this inning going.

That's the dumbest explanation they could possibly have given.

I want to give people space to be more creative.

And then to go, well, listen, I'm not going to talk about how to be a shortstop.

If I could be a shortstop, we'd be out there being shortstops.

Well, it didn't stop you from being out there being an umpire.

And that's a low blow, but it's not one I would have thrown if they hadn't been so like it's insulting.

It's insulting to me.

It's insulting to the pool reporter.

It's insulting to Gunnar Henderson and Ernie Clement, for that matter, who, by the way, did not establish a new path to the base.

He established a new path to about four feet from the base where he then had to crawl to the base.

It was the most obvious case of of leaving the baseline to avoid a tag that I've seen.

I've never seen that not called.
