It it was indeed and and sadly now looking at the the grey hair and unfortunately when you work in professional sport they they catalogue all the images so the the grey hair and the wrinkles are are certainly here now from from twenty five years in the industry but uh yeah I was was was very fortunate, didn't quite make the grade as a as a player and quite honestly was was lost and if it wasn't for the PFA um and an apprenticeship in in the non sporting side um of the business, uh you know, who knows?

knows what I would uh I would have ended up doing.

So I was very thankful to be given that opportunity as a young man and spent sixteen years in various different roles at Doncaster Rovers and the club Doncaster Group before heading over to to Lincoln City uh yeah ten seasons ago now.

Yeah, mo most definitely.

I do I do think I probably have a natural bias.

Um and and one of the things of of Lincoln City and and a and a lot of modern football clubs, in fact, all modern football clubs now, you know, really care about the the person first before the before the player.

Um but it but it's a brutal industry.

I think equally we we have to be clear that the success at Lincoln City has really taken a village.

It's taken lots of people, um in in order to contribute this at at various different times.

all with the mentality that we are the temporary custodians of an institution that is you know nearly 150 years old.

And I think when you apply that mindset to to whatever and you're respectful of history, you're respectful of what you're trying to achieve, we, you know, we talk about understanding alignment commitment without sounding really corny, you know, understanding the journey that we're going on, the role that we're trying to play, you know, getting real alignment between the business, the sporting side, all facets of the club.

and and then and then it's about being wholly committed to that.

And I think that's the the approach that we've taken over over the decade.

Some of the recipes change to some degree, some of the things that we're trying to and the way that we're going about it's changed.

But the the underlying principles have always been the same.

How do we get a group of people across a whole football club absolutely aligned um and all working towards a singular North Star?

And if if if maybe that's the one thing that

um, you know, I and we've been able to do is is just constantly, you know, retain that focus that that's helped us on our way.
