There were just a lot of people interested in eyelashes and I wrote about Cher who took one look at one of my pairs of eyelashes.

My favourite pair were diamante lined.

How do you have diamantes on eyelashes?

Yeah, well, I assume that Jose sort of glued them to the base of the eyelashes.

They never ever came off.

And so in the place of where eyeliner would be, I had two rows of diamantes.

And I had top eyelashes and bottom eyelashes, which was unusual.

I'm not quite sure how I could see.

But Cher looked at my, when I first interviewed her, it was in London, and she looked at my eyelashes and she said, where did you get those eyelashes?

And I said, oh, Jose at Melbourne, as though Cher might know of Jose in Melbourne.

And she said, could I borrow them?

And I was really a bit stunned, because nobody ever asked to borrow eyelashes.

It was a bit like asking to borrow your fingernails.

And because she was Cher and, you know, had nine million dresses around her and people fussing with her, I found it very hard to say no.

And so I said to her,

Well, if I take off these eyelashes, I'm going to have a strip where eyeliner should be.

And she said, oh, I've got a lot of eyeliner.

And then I saw her.

She did a television show in London, and she had my eyelashes on.

And I was just too nervous.
