I didn't even tell him I had a crush on the guy.

I mean, I probably turned bright red when I was talking about it.

So he probably figured it out.

But that was what did it.

So I got to the island that summer in August or actually it was July.

And no sooner had I gotten into our house than the phone rang.

And it was him who had never called me in his entire life.

And he said, hey, there's a party down the road.

you know my goodness um and I walked into that party and he just made a beeline for me and I was like oh my god I just it's like you know falling from heaven I didn't even know what happened and then you you dated like you had a relationship yeah we did we did and we were never in the same place we were always going in different ways and and I think that my feelings were stronger than his really uh and uh

I don't think he was really able to commit in the way that I would have liked.

And then he got sick, and he was sick for many years.

And so I saw him a number of times, and we had a lovely friendship and did a lot of reminiscing.

Yeah, and he died in 2019.

Yeah.

It really is.

It's so all consuming and you're all in.

Yeah, I just really am interested in human emotion and the complexity of it and the variety in it.

And I like tracking it.
