So we often in research studies look at how much will I benefit or how much will it help, but we less often look at when will I benefit or when will I help?
So a definition would be the time between when
Usually a preventive intervention is started to the time when a an improved health outcome is seen.
I got interested in this because of my interest in prognostication.
In other words, predicting how long somebody will live or how well someone will do in their disease course.
And my interest in prognostication was really about decision making.
You know, when should we give tests and interventions, especially to seriously ill or frail?
