My boss doesn't believe this.

But my boss is just hammering on the numbers.

And what they often miss, there's sort of two sides to this.

Number one is your boss is giving voice what her or his boss is giving voice to.

And your boss may care deeply, but what they're hearing in their ear every day is the numbers.

And the other thing is, since when do you need to wait for your boss to adjust your own attitude?

Yeah, I mean, you look at how many times do you interact with your boss, right?

Versus do you interact with patients?

I mean, if you have a terrible boss, if you have a toxic boss, if they're horrible, if you're not getting paid right, like, you know what you need to do.

But if you have the average, neurotic, mostly self-absorbed, worrying about trying to please their boss boss, like most people have...

One thing you can do is when they start talking about numbers, this has been really effective when they say, we've got to hit these numbers.

If they're giving you revenue numbers, patient count numbers, translate them and say, so how many new patients is that?

You know what?

This reminds me of one guy that no one would fit him.

And I did, and it made such a difference.

And his family told me what a difference it makes.

So as I think about getting new patients, that's the guy I'm going to carry in my heart.

You do not wait for your boss.

And there is, you probably already know this.

Your listeners might even know this because you've probably talked about it.
