We're being pushed to prioritize the money over the caring.

And it's a false choice because what we know, now you have to run a practice, right?

People often say no money, no mission.

It needs to be to some degree profitable enough to pay your people and go home at night and have a place to lay your head.

But the over-indexing on the money actually strips away the very thing that makes what you do special.

And so what led me to write this book?

My background was in sales.

I was...

In sales, I was a sales trainer, I was a VP of sales, and I was a VP of sales for a sales training company.

And one of the things that I consistently saw was there was this emotional component, and I didn't have a name for it.

And it wasn't the aggressive, let's kill them, whatever, you know.

That lasts until lunchtime.

And by then, those people are burnt out.

We've seen that happen again and again.

Right, right.

And sales is one of the few professions that we allow to be defined by the people who do it badly.

Because not only are those people super annoying, the research says they're actually very ineffective.

And so I always knew there was something else.

And maybe it's because, you know, I like to think of myself as a deep thinker.

I'm on a spiritual journey.
