And to think of that conceptually is not nearly as powerful as to think about that one person.

And so what happens is in any type of organization, the story of that one person gets eroded.

What we know is that top performers will carry that in their mind and heart every day.

But for the majority of people, that gets eroded.

We might see it once in a blue moon.

And what takes predominance is hit these numbers, turn around this, do this, do this.

And so...

What we teach is how organizations can keep that story.

We call it a patient impact story when we're going medical, how we can keep that alive because that is your true north.

That's the true north, the patient impact story.

But what I would also suggest to anyone listening to this, don't wait for your boss to do it.

Like you can do this yourself right now.

Because what I often say to people, which is a kind of in-your-face thing is,

is do you believe that your work matters?

Here, the obvious answer would be yes.

Do you believe that you are improving someone's life in a really significant way?

Yes.

Well, then don't you owe it?

to all the rest of the people out there to be as powerful and as compelling as you possibly can to show them why this could matter to them.

Like this whole, I'm not going to talk people into doing something they don't want to do.
