You know, thinking, I don't want to get out in that heat again.

And so I asked her this one question.

I said, what do you think about when you go on sales calls?

And she said, I always think about this one particular patient.

And she went on to describe this grandmother.

She'd been in the doctor's office.

The grandmother came up to her and said, are you the rep for this drug?

She said, yes, ma'am, I am.

The grandmother said, you gave me my life back.

I can visit my grandkids now.

And so this rep is telling me this story.

It was about 15 years ago.

And she said, that's my purpose.

I think about her every single day.

And that is true for everyone.

It's not a conceptual idea of I'm making people's lives better.

It is a real life human image of one person.

And the human beings, we're hardwired this way because once we get beyond food and shelter, we have two needs, belonging and significance.

Belonging is I'm part of something bigger than myself, which would be the practice.

And significance is my role matters.
