I said, I think I'm about to go on a journey.
That was it.
Look, I would say the common denominator is being in that very privileged position, which you would understand as a journalist, to help elevate the stories of others, particularly those whose stories might not otherwise get told.
And Evelyn is a perfect example of that.
She's almost a distillation of my career.
And this is the greatest luxury I've ever had because, you know, over two and a half years, I've been able to really throw myself into a project.
And it's been a lot of hard work.
I can't even begin to imagine how many hours I've put into it.
But
It's just a joy to be able to bring this story to life.
And time and time and time again, people say to me, I've never even thought about whether there are any Australians on the Titanic.
And it was, again, that thing as a journalist.
If you have a kernel of an idea...
And as a journalist, you have to be well informed.
Why did I never think about this before?
And how did I not know that she existed?
I sort of haven't looked at it in those terms.
I've felt incredibly blessed throughout my career that I've kind of hit jobs and hit moments at what has always felt like good timing, you know, that
probably isn't even of my own making, but I've so often been in the right place at the right time with the right frame of mind to take on something new, something that I've never done before.
So I think the common denominator has been challenging myself and wanting to learn new things.
