Yeah, look, there's two things going on here, which sort of overlap in weird and interesting ways.
One, as you point out, the sort of undercurrent here is a lot of this Israel-Palestine stuff, which is kind of crazy given how many real local problems New York City has that this election got really globalized kind of.
In its in its final weeks, you know, that got got a lot of oxygen.
And as you say, there is, frankly, a lot of overlap between New York's finance community and its Jewish community.
And they are very exercised about this.
And the other is that they don't like they're really afraid of socialists.
I mean, and look, yes, this is a democratic socialist.
There are some political differences there.
But Mamdani has a very progressive agenda that is going to have to be paid for.
And he's been pretty explicit that he'd like it to be paid for by billionaires.
And, you know, this is the background to all of this is really sort of kind of post pandemic.
There are real problems in New York that you see and you feel.
And there's a sense, I think, among the elites of this generation that this is kind of not the New York that they're
Their their financial fathers that like Nelson Rockefeller Republicans, you know, were were benefactors of and they see it slipping away from them and they're very spooked.
And then part of it is just that they see their own waning political power.
They did not want this guy elected and he won.
So they're they're a little unnerved by all of it.
Yeah, I guess I'm surprised that that is I'm not perhaps surprised because this is a very visceral issue.
But but New York City is a city.
This is a local election.
