Where do you see this going?
Before they step into the primary school where we have meetings to introduce and to settle in.
But a lot of that pre-knowledge has already been built and developed.

So let me clarify.
So what a parent would come to an early childhood teacher and say, what do I need to pass on?
Really good question and really difficult as well because every teacher that your child's going to go to will have a different want and need.
But I would always say to my parents, no.
you're the advocate for your child.
Go in and tell them all the amazing things your child can do, but give them my phone number.
If they've got any questions or worries, they can always ring the early childhood centre.
And I'm sure all early childhood centres would feel the same.
We don't want to...
expect schools to come out and build relationships with every single centre we know that can't happen but as early childhood teachers we want to pass that information on and do it well children have portfolios that everyone can look at but they're long and involved and it's really tricky I would simply say to the teacher this is my child this is what they're good at and

but I think too as a parent, and you mentioned you went to Teresa's open night, look for schools that have open nights.
It might not be the school you're going to, but if you go to those open nights, it's kind of like visiting other child care centres, right?
And it'll give you an idea of what the schools in the area perhaps are looking for or hold important, what their values are.
